Arrived at the ChatGPT interface at the same time as a few other super early players (a few months pre-ChatGPT), but ultimately didn't take off like ChatGPT did.

We tried positioning ourselves to explain to users how we were different than search engines, when really it was an entirely different product that needed a demonstration (generating essays and then having viral distribution).

Did some cool stuff though - were one of the first if not the first player to ground LLM generations in an app to search results (pre-RAG techniques, etc.)

A lesson in distribution and execution: it doesn't matter what you build if you don't market it correctly/show it to the right people.
